Monsters of Spring
Art's Description
About this painting
The original title was Fears of Spring in this painting about the emergence of sexuality.
The hedge-like objects form monstrous versions of the rampant horse in this picture. Red phallic flowers can be seen spouting from one hedge. A unicorn’s horn, itself a symbol of virginity, points skyward and above its sharp point a rope dangles, something to grasp to avoid falling and becoming impaled.
Painted Aug to Oct 2007.
