Girl in the Woods
Art's Description
About this painting
My first painting. This is a copy of an obscure van Gogh picture of the same title. I painted this after an invitation by another artist to join his website, eclectic art. The Internet art group held regular competitions and the first was to paint a version of a van Gogh picture.
This picture displays an atmosphere of isolation and unease absent from the original. The tiny girl in red is dwarfed by towering trees that darken as they recede.
Technical details
Painted in a similar style to the original, the surface texture of the trees in particular is thick and rugged.
Painted Aug 2004.
